Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
